Wedding Photography Has a Style for You!

Share
by Michael J

What type of pictures do you want from your wedding photographer?

Is photography something that you get emotional about? Do you create pictures in your mind and relive the experience when you see a picture? Are you surrounded by art that reflects YOU? If you aren’t, then don’t really have a need for a photojournalistic style of photographer, because your photos are probably going to end up in a drawing collecting dust. If you’re an art guru and do value and enjoy photographic works, then you should look for a professional that can match your story with vivid photo art and story.

Read through Magazine and Guides to unleash the Art Side of You. Once you do this, you’ll find all kinds of professionals that are just like you!

To learn how the photographer you’re talking with feels about photojournalistic photography, you might show him/her some magazines that you really like. Discuss the black and whites, view the close-ups and come up with a number or percentage of candid pictures that you want to receive in your wedding album. You can also test the photographer’s knowledge by asking some of the following questions: Here are a few Questions to Stump Your Candidate and Really Put them to the Test!

Have the photographer look at your face and ask them how they would get the most beautiful pictures of you. Ask them to consider all of your faults, features, strong and weak spots and tell you how they would get a striking photo!

If your whole family complains about having pictures taken, or if they feel uncomfortable in front of a camera, what ideas do you have to make the photo session less painful for them?

Have you noticed any expressions or mannerisms of mine that you might want to try to capture or avoid?

Each photographer uses his/her own techniques. It is called the photographers eye. Some see moments as they whiz by in documentary-style charm, while others prefer staged settings. Others have both qualities and styles together, which is ideal. The term photojournalism has become overrated. It doesn’t mean anything anymore, except that it is now acceptable for wedding pictures to have an artistic effect.

Comprehending The Very Basics Of First Timers Photography

Share
by Greg Silvers

It really isn’t difficult to learn the basics of photography. Although if you are used to using an old film camera there are some differences with the modern digital cameras you will want to know about.

Naturally once you have a firm grasp of these differences you can really start to take advantage of them. It really doesn’t matter who you are, with a little dedication you can learn this stuff.

Gaining a Collection of Images

With the digital format we are now hardly limited at all when it comes to the number of photos we can take. Never again will you have to pay for a whole load of prints that you didn’t even want.

This is all good, however you do need to get into the habit of going through your photos and editing or deleting your collection. This is because you do not want to have to go through loads and loads of useless images to find your good ones later.

Ways to best go about storing your digital photos

You can switch from a high-resolution image to a lower resolution to save on storage space. Your high-resolution photos will take up more storage space than the lower resolution one.

You will only need a high resolution for your photographs if you need a crisp image for a large printed photograph. If you are only going to use the pictures online or with a computer, you can use a lower resolution setting.

It is also possible with many cameras to change the compression rate/format that your camera saves its images in. Again this means you can save space for extra photos on your memory card.

If there is one thing modern Day cameras are normally short of its memory space, so you really should increase it as soon as possible. If you have any experience with the old film cameras I’m sure you know what it’s like to run out of space for photos just when you were poised to take your best ever photo.

The dreaded battery issue

Many people just don’t realize it, but the camera’s battery is very important. Naturally the last thing you need is the run out of battery just when you need your camera most.

If you are running low on battery power, avoiding overuse of your LCD digital display should help significantly to lengthen your cameras usage time. Not using Flash will also help a lot.

If your camera doesn’t use its own special power pack, make sure you are at least using good rechargeable batteries and that you have several charged replacement sets of batteries ready with you at all times.

All amateurs, no matter what their level of experience, can enjoy digital photography for beginners. You can be proud of your images, right from when you first get your digital camera.

You will learn that it is easy to go from digital photography for beginners to the next level of photography, as you get more comfortable with your digital camera.

How to Select a Fantastic Wedding Photographer

Share
by Michael Jackson

There is nothing more valuable than your wedding pictures for keeping the memory of your wedding day in your memory. The wedding album will become a vision of the past that will be enjoyed in the near and far of your futures. You will share it most immediately with every important guest who was there to see it. You may reference it on your bigger anniversaries. Many couples decide to leave the album with their children. Your Wedding Album is as valuable as gold and is a keepsake that will be worth every penny that was spent.

Therefore, the wedding photographer you locate must be exceptional. He or she must have almost as much enthusiasm for your wedding as the two of you do. All of those other mentioned and then forgotten. All of the roses, pansies will die. Lipstick gets messed up at the end of the day. Everyone goes back to where they belong once the DJ stops playing the music. What do you want to takeaway with you? You’ll want the pictures. I think you’re catching on. The photos will be really define the day.

Pictures are really that important. The task is overwhelming. If this is your first wedding, then you might be confused about what to do first.

Almost anyone can take a snapshot, but a real pro is the key to fantastic memories that everyone can enjoy. Your photographer must create art that is beyond the snapshot.

Unfortunately, times can be tough and even if you’ve been planning this wedding for awhile, you may not be prepared for the financial deterrents that may soon turn up. Many people erroneously under-budget for their wedding. With fairytale dreams and an underdeveloped wallet, the costs can be jaw dropping for the soon-to-be newlyweds.

There are unheard-of expenses associated with each facet of the planning. Don’t think so? Wait until you get ready to order the invitations, choose a gown, veil, shoes, garter belt and every little beauty item for your face and hair to look perfect. Wait until you see how much one plate of food will cost at the reception.

Once you tell a vendor that you need something for a wedding, it’s automatically going to cost more. Flowers are a fraction of the costs until you say that you need them for a wedding. Same thing goes for cake, presents, drinks, DJs, and everything else. By the way, when will you EVER use a doily except at a wedding? Do you actually need to have them?

Most couples don’t want to start as husband and wife by going deep into debt. Saving dollars does not stop you from having a beautiful day. You’ll find ways to have a great wedding, cut corners, and nobody will notice. You’re day will not be ruined. Most people, including you, probably won’t remember those small things anyway. However, you will definitely remember the wedding pictures.

You want to have your cake and you want to eat a lot of it too! You can hire a fantastic, professional photographer and you can still have a lot of money if you know how. Most couples just don’t know the right questions to ask. Most couples don’t even know that they can negotiate with a photographer. They don’t do it, because nobody told them that they can!

Plenty of good photographers are out there just waiting for you to look at their portfolios. Plenty more are in the same situation as you are, just trying to make ends meet and to be profitable in a trying economy. Working together, you will find each other. You just need to know the right questions to ask in order to find the right photographer for you.

Photograph Composing

Share
by SFXsource

Photo composition is important because it not only makes your art interesting, but it also keeps the viewer engaged. These tips are meant to help you improve your composition. If you are a beginning photographer, it will take a little bit of time to get an ?eye? for composition, but you will continue to get better.

1. Make sure that you always keep composition in mind. Try not to rely on cropping your photos later. While you can crop your photos later, you will waste a lot of time cropping all of them in order to get an interesting image.

2. You will want to first consider the placement of your subject. You generally want to avoid putting your subject in the middle. Place your subject in a “sweet spot.”

In order to visualize these sweet spots, imagine a blank, rectangular photo. Imagine 2 vertical lines breaking the frame into 3 equal parts. Next, 2 horizontal lines will break the frame into 3 equal parts. These lines will intersect in 4 spots, and these are the sweet spots. These sweet spots are the places to put your subject for a great photo.

3. If you use lines and texture creatively, your viewer will be drawn in. They will also be guided around the photos with these lines.

For example, if your subject is a spiral staircase, the lines will draw the viewer around the entire photo. A cycle can be made if you have grass that draws the viewer from the bottom of the photo to the top, and rays of sun that draw the viewer from the top of the photo to the bottom.

Horizon lines can be placed either above or below the center. Lines from subjects such as trees, ladders, buildings, or railroad tracks can also be used to create strong composition.

Adobe CS4 In-Depth

Share
by David Peters

I came across an in-depth article that details a lot of information regarding Adobe CS4, mostly things about Photoshop CS4, Bridge CS4 and the launch date of the latest version of Adobe’s Creative Suite.

First of all, the launch is predicted to be around the time of Adobe Max, which takes place November 16th-19th in San Francisco. Typically Adobe Creative Suite product cycles are 18 months and since Adobe CS3 was released on April 16th, 2007 Adobe Max would mean 19 months since the last product release. Let’s look at some features that may or may not be included in Adobe CS4.

Adobe Photoshop CS4: Codename: Adobe Stonehenge CS4 Extended. Stonehenge is the splash screen. 1. The User-Interface is similar to CS3 however there are some minor polishes that complete the look. 2. Support for “Extensions” is listed under the “Window” menu 3. The extension manager is in every CS4 application 3. “Kuler” which is an Intranet color pallet collaboration tool for sharing color swatches with others on your team. 4. Support for Flash (more on this later)

Adobe Panel Configurator 1.0 (Alpha Version): 1. It’s a way to create Photoshop toolboxes. 2. Choose from over 860+ commands, tools and application features and create your own toolboxes that work in any CS4 application 3. Supports Actions and Scripts too 4. Drag and drop text fields into these toolboxes 5. Support for SWF and Quicktime video files in toolboxes (not sure why) 6. Export the toolbar file and open it in any CS4 application.

CS4 Suite New Features: 1. Flash SWF support across all applications 2. You can play SWF files in any app 3. A tool is being developed for creating flash content without any coding experience

Adobe Bridge CS4: 1. New User-Interface 2. Sidebar and search tool location similar to Mac OS Leopard 3. Navigation in folders similar to Windows Vista Explorer 4. Labels and star ratings are easier to access. 5. Filtered searches are now much faster even across thousands of images 6. List View in Bridge 7. Auto Photo Downloader to download photos from your camera is now easier and better than Bridge CS3 8. Improved slideshows using your spacebar 9. From Slideshow, press “r” and Adobe Camera Raw opens automatically. 10. Review Mode: (full screen review of photos) a. Just like a full screen version of Apple coverflow b. Loopt tool built in c. The ability to open all, review, and drop photos out of view that you don’t want and others stay full screen d. When leaving review mode the photos you kept are now selected in bridge. Ones you dropped are still there but not selected. e. You now have the ability to create photo-collections from within review mode 11. Collections are just like Playlists in iTunes. You have the ability to group photos. The location where photos are stored is not changed. 12. More sharing options a. Upload directly to FTP within Bridge b. Web gallery templates are easy and use the same templates available in Lightroom 2 c. Ability to create flash galleries with a few clicks and upload instantly d. Uses the Opera engine to render galleries within Bridge e. Photoshop Web Gallery is going away and being replaced by Bridge Web Gallery 13. Bridge CS4 Menus (in order left to right) File – Edit – View – Sttacks – Label – Tools – Window – Help

Adobe CS4 Applications are exactly the same as CS3 but the text in the icons is black instead of white.

Shoot a Video

Share
by SFXsource

You don’t have to be a professional to start making short films and videos. No matter what kind of camera you have, these tips will help you create professional looking videos. A lot of what you do to make a fantastic video is in post-production, however, you will absolutely need some well-shot footage. First, figure out what you want to document. Find an interesting person to make a short film about. Leave the tripod behind, use a steady hand, and go off on an adventure.

1. Don’t move the camera. You don’t need to move the camera to capture movement. Hold the camera still and don’t feel like you need to follow the movement. Later on you may want to pan the camera, if you have a steady hand.

2. Get in close. Getting in close will get the viewer engaged, and it will also draw attention to the action. Don’t be shy, go ahead and stick the camera close to the person’s face, they probably won’t mind.

3. Film over the person’s shoulder. With this shot, you can make the viewer feel like they are right there in the action. If the person moves in and out of the frame, that’s okay.

4. An overview shot will tie in the previous shots- take a step back and get all the action in one frame. Walk around (not while you are recording) and get shots from all around.

5. Once you have the previous shots, you can begin to experiment filming from other angles. You can shoot from above, or get on the ground. Try not to “zoom in.” If you feel like you need to get closer, just move yourself in closer.

Generally, you want to hold each shot for 10 seconds. Don’t be afraid to follow your instincts, and capture what catches your eye. When you are done, you will have a dynamic film with different shots.
